As some of my YouTube subscribers will already know, I have become quite addicted to My Little Pony Equestria Girls dolls so I decided that my next giant play doh surprise would be one of the Equestria Girls.
After much thought and searching for an ideal image I decided to go with Rainbow Dash from the Rainbow Rocks range.
I was quite nervous about this as I had received so many comments on my previous Apple Jack (pony form) play doh surprise and I didn't want to ruin Rainbow Dash's starring moment. I started my creation by having to manually mix colours together to make the skin colour for RD which was quite daunting as I didn't want to mess it up. After I was happy with the colour mix I cut out the shape for her head and pony ear then I began on arranging the colours for her hair. This was quite tricky as I had to cut each colour out individually so it would be easier to assemble on the finished surprise. I spent around an hour rolling and cutting play doh in the right shapes and sizes before I was happy with it. I then started to apply the hair, face and ear on to the surprise egg which my husband had fully covered with white play doh. I then began to work on the facial detail, which I found easier than I expected - maybe as I had struggled so much with Apple Jacks eyes on the previous MLP play doh creation. Once everything was in place I started working on her cutie mark to go beneath her face while my husband went ahead and cut out lots of stars in lots of colours to decorate the rest of the ball. About 2 and a half hours after starting the play doh creation I had finally finished the cutie mark and put in in place on the white surprise egg.
I was a little unsure at first as RD's skin tone seemed a little dark but as soon as we had it in place - centre stage - and positioned the studio lights the tone was much better.
